Execution of the Sicilian Count Giordano (1710)


Illustration of the execution of a leader of rebellious Sicilian nobleman (a count Giordano or Jordano). The uprising was directed against the Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI (1165-1197, reign 1191-1197). Allegedly a glowing crown was nailed on Giordano’s head.
